Two young people were arrested as gardaí seized drugs worth €715,000 in Dublin yesterday.

A vehicle was stopped at approximately 3.45am by uniform gardaí attached to Clondalkin Community Engagement, while they were on a routine patrol in Rathcoole and Citywest in Dublin in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The male driver of the vehicle, aged in his 20s, was then searched along with the vehicle, and gardaí seized cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €10,000.

The man was arrested before being detained at a Garda station in Dublin and has been charged in relation to the seizure.

He is due to appear before Blanchardstown District Court this morning at 10.30am.

An Garda Síochána also conducted further searches at three residential properties, during which cannabis herb, cocaine and crack cocaine were seized along with various drug-related paraphernalia, with an estimated street value of €705,000.

A female, also aged in her 20s, was arrested during one search and detained at a Garda station in Dublin.

The woman has since been released without charge, and a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The seized drugs, with a total estimated value of €715,000, have been forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Investigations are ongoing, a Garda spokesperson said.
