The show has amassed 26 million viewers
Crime drama Mobland on Paramount+ has been renewed for a second season
Pierce Brosnan’s brand new show MobLand is set to return after being renewed for a second season.
The 72-year-old stars in the Paramount+ show as London-based Irish godfather Conrad Harrigan.
The contemporary crime drama is based around the fictional Harrigan family and their influence on London's criminal underworld.
The streamer announced the return of the show on Instagram with a post reading: “They may have won the battle, but will they win the war? #MobLand will return for Season 2 on @paramountplus.”
Helen Mirren, Joanne Froggatt and Tom Hardy also star in the show co-written by Ronan Bennett and Jez Butterworth.
Dublin-born Anthony Byrne directed four episodes of the season, while Guy Ritchie who serves as an executive producer on the show directed two.
The tenth and final episode of the first series premiered on June 1st.
Deadline reports that the opening episode of MobLand "amassed 26 million views over the first 70 days in the US and other English-speaking markets, where MobLand premiered March 30, and the first nine days for non-English speaking territories, where the show debuted May 30".
“With over 26 million viewers and climbing, MobLand has become a resounding triumph,” Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount and President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment, said.
“We are elated to greenlight a second season of this global phenomenon, which has dominated both domestic and international charts and soared to #1 in the United Kingdom.”
The figures make the show the second most-watched original series on Paramount+.
